Cvt whining noise

As a safety precaution, when you stop and turn off the engine, it sets the brakes, whether you set them or not. If you did not set the E-brake, it does it for you, and when you go to take off it releases them. You are probably hearing the servo motor applying the brake. This probably only occurs on a manual transmission.

Here are some more details: -The noise is a high-pitched whine (not whistle) that changes pitch with engine RPM. -The noise is more pronounced around the passenger-side wheel well. -If I coast down a hill and put the car in neutral, the noise does not change pitch even when accelerating.
